Collection agent
As a debt collection officer at Faircasso, you'll spend a significant portion of your day in contact. This is primarily with individuals (or businesses) who are behind on payments, but also with our clients and debt counselors. You'll handle this by phone and email, both inbound and outbound. During these interactions, you can truly make a difference for people.
You explain who you are and that they don't have to worry, and you reach out to help. You explain the process, outline the consequences of the arrears, motivate them to do something about their debt, and try to agree on a realistic and sustainable payment plan. Sometimes this isn't possible, or there are problematic debts. In that case, you do your utmost to find a solution together with the person. For example, starting a debt counseling program through Faircasso.
Our Debt Counseling department is staffed by Faircasso colleagues from various teams and external volunteers. You too have a place on this team, for 4 hours per week. After a warm handover, this team will assess the situation during a telephone intake. How large are the debts? What skills does someone have or lack to get out of debt? Are there any other social issues? Together, we will then look for the best local debt counseling solution. This could include a budget buddy, a trustee, or budget management.
Who are you?
You are a service-oriented Rotterdammer who shares Faircasso's vision. Our values—honesty, optimism, attention, and smart—are a good fit for you. You connect easily with a wide range of people. You thrive on helping others and are patient in your approach. Listening carefully and asking the right questions comes naturally to you. You understand people's situations while also keeping the goal of your contact in mind and focusing on solutions. You have strong communication skills in Dutch and English, both spoken and written. You have at least a vocational (MBO) work and thinking level, for example, in the field of Social Legal Services. Finally, experience in debt collection and/or debt counseling is a plus.
